Welcome to..............
The Sr. Marie Laurence Community School catered to students that are attending the school in the morning hours. The students attending are Cycle 1 students and their siblings.
Parents & Guardian Information..........
We are happy to let you know, that we started with new energy for this school year.
The students are very enthusiastic about the new program of the Community School, as it is filled with educational, recreational fun activities. (Tennis-, Swimming-, Music-, Track & field, language & arts, Art & craft) For some of these activities there is a small contribution fee. There will be workshops for the parents also. Further information about the workshops will be provided at a later date.
The homework guidance will definitely help the students with their home work. It is the parents’ duty to check to see if the homework is in order and to make sure the child brings home and takes back to school their folder with the homework assignment or their books. Sometime maybe your son or daughter did not complete their home work in the afternoon. It would be marvelous if you can assist him or her with homework.
The children are responsible for their bags. Please write your child’s name on their school bags. We are still busy with the t-shirts for the Community School that can be purchased for $8, a piece. Please bear with us for one more week so that we can get this regulated. We would like for the students to wear jeans pants or if they have gym that day they can keep their gym pants on. If bags left behind, please check the following day for your child bags.
Along with our new program we will be focusing more on creating a safe and peaceful environment for the students. To achieve this we have set some rules and agreements. If the students are not complying with the rules and agreements, there will be consequences. We will be sending out warning letters if we find it necessary. In this letter you will receive, information on your child’s behavior. There will be three warning letters. If there are no changes in the student’s behavior, the student will be suspended (3 days) from the Community School, which can later lead to expulsion.
Healthy eating is a new focus we are trying to implement in the Community School.
We are proving healthy- sandwiches for lunch. We are looking for a reasonable way of providing a healthy meal for the students. This will be up and running in the second week of October 2008.
Our aim is to have a good relationship with the parents and students.
Good communication is very important for a good relationship.
You are always welcome to walk in to ask about your child’s performance or to volunteer to help us. On the school website picture and info of community school
Do remember that every accomplishment will be in the benefit of us all.
Kind regards,
Coordinator
